Snowmass Prepares for Big Events, New Restaurants, and Retail This Summer

With summer approaching, Snowmass is undergoing significant renovations and upgrades. Alongside a  rodeo grounds renovation, there will be multiple new restaurants and retail chains, among other substantial renovations and latest events, a news release states.

The Western tradition in Snowmass continues with the 50th anniversary of the Snowmass rodeo, celebrated with a $6.5 million renovation to the town park and the rodeo grounds. To mark the occasion, there will be an evening celebration on July 3, as well as new, unique events at every rodeo. Viewline Resort Snowmass will be hosting whiskey tastings every Wednesday with live music to give guests a pre- and post-game experience to the rodeo.

Among the diverse range of new restaurants and retail chains being introduced this summer, Hominy Southern Kitchen — a new seafood restaurant with an oyster bar — will open in the former Big Hoss Grill location. ASPENX and Gorsuch Cafe are also opening new locations in Snowmass, offering more retail opportunities. Sheer Bliss Dog Spa, a new, mobile dog grooming experience, will also be available. Cirque Residences X Viceroy Snowmass will be opening for the 2024-25 winter, providing two- and three-bedroom suites for visitors.

Dog Days of Summer, a new canine festival, will debut in Snowmass on July 21 and Aug. 25. Attendees will have access to free nail trimmings and a do-it-yourself pet-washing station. Comedy WKND will also return for a summer debut between July 12-14.

The Ice Age Discovery Talk and Tour is a unique opportunity to delve into Snowmass’ Ice Age history. Starting on June 14, this guided tour will showcase the murals in Snowmass Base Village every Friday. Artist Jen Lewin will create two, life-size mastodon sculptures made of recycled ocean plastic, which will debut in the summer of 2025.

The Coney Glade chairlift will be replaced over the summer. The new lift will start across from the Snowmass Mall.

Local rafting guides on Riff Raft Racing, which will compete in the World Rafting Championship, will train at the Snowmass Rec Center and compete in a local competition on June 22 on the Slaughterhouse rapids outside of Aspen.
