As the calendar turns today to the final month of 2024, Aspen has transformed into a magical winter wonderland thanks to one of the largest pre-Thanksgiving snowstorms in recent memory.
With Thanksgiving marking the official end of the offseason, Wintersköl looming on the horizon, tree-lighting ceremonies underway and the slopes of Aspen Mountain and Snowmass Ski Area opening five days early, the 2024-25 ski season is off to a promising start.
As evidenced by one of the longest lift lines in years on Wednesday for the Silver Queen Gondola at Aspen Mountain, skiers and snowboarders have been reaping the benefits of favorable early season conditions mixed with the hard work of Aspen Skiing Company’s snowmakers.
The drop in temperature, accumulation of snow and holiday lights illuminating the night sky have served as a beacon to tourists and part-time
residents returning to partake in all that makes winter in the Roaring Fork Valley remarkable.
From traditions like Thanksgiving dinner at Hickory House and the midvalley turkey trot races, to Wintersköl, après ski parties and fireworks’ show, there are numerous ways for everyone to make the most out of the pre-winter and early winter days in our small corner of the mountains in Colorado.
