Celebrating its 75th birthday this season, Aspen is one of the most famous skiing destinations in North America. Known for its excellent skiing conditions and glamorous dining and nightlife, it’s no surprise that residential property prices here can top €29,000 per square metre, beating its European competitors to first place in the Savills Ski prime price league.
I love to visit this storybook town in the Rocky Mountains with my family. If you're an avid skier and sports enthusiast, it is here that you can truly choose your own adventure. Among the vast forests and white-capped mountains, there is something for everyone from skiing in the morning to biking or hiking in the afternoon, followed by an evening with friends and family in town. Here are some of my favourite places to soak up the atmosphere in this majestic, sought-after resort – starting, of course, with The Agency Aspen.
The Agency is located in the heart of Aspen on 205 S Mill St (#110). When I'm not visiting its alpine-chic base or touring some of the town's most breathtaking properties, the area in which The Agency is located is one of my favourite spots for enjoying the best food, drinks and merriment Aspen has to offer.
After a visit to the office, this high-energy trattoria is just steps away and serves delicious Italian eats. It is a great casual place to grab a bite. In addition, the outdoor dining space is a gem for every season.
This upscale French-American cuisine is a favourite for a festive Umansky family dinner. Located next to The Agency office, it is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine from their lengthy list along their sleek bar after a day on the slopes.
As Aspen’s first members-only club, this features world-class dining, an extensive wine list, a bar, and even a nightclub for dancing post-dinner on the weekends. After dinner, I love to sit back on one of the plush couches and enjoy a cocktail in the Great Room.
Exuding class and charm, this restaurant recreates the relaxed Victorian style that predominates in Aspen, with the perfect modern twist.
This is Aspen’s best oyster bar. A true neighbourhood spot, this establishment has a beautiful, fully restored mahogany bar that is just breathtaking. While enjoying a drink at the bar, the house-baked sourdough should not be missed.
Located in a nearly 150-year-old historic building downtown with rustic stone and wood throughout, here’s a nod to the mountain saloons of the past. It's a fantastic spot to gather with friends for après-ski or watch a game with a craft beer before hitting another local establishment.
