Chelsea Football Club Chairman Sells Colorado Mountain Retreat for $10 Million

A ski-in, ski-out chalet in Colorado found a buyer this week for $10 million.

In fact, the Snowmass Village, Colorado, residence allows for “skiing, hiking and biking right out your door,” according to the listing with Larry Jones and Katie Grange of Aspen Snowmass Sotheby’s International Realty in Snowmass Village.

The property has been on and off the market since 2019, when it was available for $6.95 million, according to listing records. Despite not finding a buyer, the asking price was bumped up several times—eventually reaching $8.6 million—before the listing was removed from the market in December.

It hit the market again two weeks ago with a price tag of $9.75 million, and persistence paid off, the deal closed Wednesday.

The seller was Eugene Tenenbaum, who bought the property in 2008 for $7.3 million, according to property records. He is the director of Chelsea Football Club, which is owned by Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich. Mr. Tenenbaum, born in Ukraine, is described as one of Mr. Abramovich’s “closest associates,” according to the team’s website

Mr. Tenenbaum was also on the board of directors of EVRAZ, a multinational steel company incorporated in the U.K. and partially owned by Russian oligarchs, until earlier this month, according to his LinkedIn account. He was not immediately available for comment.

The buyer was a limited liability company registered in Houston. The new owners were not available for comment.

The residence was meticulously renovated in 2008, and was taken down to the studs as part of the process, the listing said. The result is a modern mountain retreat that makes ample use of natural materials like wood and stone, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights to frame views and let in light.

The main level features an open layout with several seating areas looking out onto the grounds or centered around a fireplace, listing photos show. The gourmet kitchen boasts commercial-grade appliances next to a dining area under a chandelier of antlers.

There are five bedrooms and six bathrooms, including a primary bedroom suite with a gas fireplace, a seating area, a dressing room and a bathroom with a steam shower and soaking tub.

Other amenities include a gallery office overlooking the main living area, a game room and several outdoor spaces.

The agents did immediately not respond to a request for comment. The Aspen Times first reported the deal.
