A 1888 Brick Cabin in Aspen Is Now a Nearly $20 Million Home

A 1888 Brick Cabin in Aspen Is Now a Nearly $20 Million Home

Listing of the Day

Location: Aspen, Colorado

Price: $19.5 million

This 1888 historic brick house in the stylish West End neighborhood of Aspen has been completely renovated and reimagined.

“It’s a historically designated house, and they kept the 1888 brick cabin intact,” said listing agent Colter Smith, of Christie’s International Real Estate Aspen Snowmass. “They picked the whole house up and dug out a new basement with 10-foot ceilings.”

“New construction is very popular in Aspen because the permitting process [for remodeling] can take forever,” he said.

The renovation and rebuild was completed in the fall of 2022, and the home is being sold furnished, Smith said. “It’s been barely lived in and it’s pretty much turnkey. It’s very well appointed,” he said.

The owners did the renovation, he added. “They did it for themselves.”

There is a separate cabin in the back, which the owners use as an office.

The front door leads into an open floor plan spanning the living and dining rooms and the kitchen, which is separated from the living room by a large fireplace, according to the listing. An outdoor seating area is on the right.

The kitchen features Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, quartzite countertops, custom cabinetry and a walk-in pantry with a coffee maker, Smith said. There is also a large mudroom with built-ins on this level.

The primary bedroom suite takes up the whole second floor, he said. It features a fireplace, a walk-in closet and an en-suite with a steam shower and a soaking tub.

“You have great views of Aspen Mountain from the primary suite and the rooftop Jacuzzi,” Smith said.

The lower level holds an entertainment area, a laundry room, a powder room and three en-suite bedrooms, he said.

Stats

The 3,829-square-foot house has four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two partial bathrooms. It sits on a 0.08-acre lot.

Amenities

Amenities include three fireplaces, a one-car garage with an electric charging station, a front yard with a covered porch, a side yard with a seating area, a media room lounge and bar, a private rooftop hot tub and a separate cabin that the owners use as a home office.

Neighborhood Notes

“The location doesn’t get any better,” Smith said. “You’re close enough to town that you can walk to restaurants, but you’re in the West End. It’s one of the most desirable neighborhoods in town, with a lot of Victorians.”

“It’s my favorite neighborhood in Aspen,” he added. “I grew up there.”

“You’re within walking distance of all of the amenities of Aspen,” he said. “The whole neighborhood has been gentrified in recent years.”

The home is a block from the Hotel Jerome, according to the listing.

“It’s one of the most popular hotels in Aspen, with great food,” Smith said.
